Standby is an experiment in subverting the norms of how we engage with technology. Intersecting sculpture, home decor, and traditional technology to encourage rethinking our relationships with our connected devices.

Made of solid basalt sourced from the foothills of the Cascade range in Washington state, with an obsidian clay body slip-cast charging arm to achieve minimal wall thickness; Standby functions both as an unobtrusive sculpture, and a home for your device as you redirect your attention back to reality.
